Green Point Events at Spondon
I was hoping to be able to report the usual Derbyshire successes in The July Green Point Events. However, you have to be a real fan to rejoice this time.

Derbyshire Green Point Events - September 2010

These popular events will take place at Spondon on Saturday, 25th September, 2010 (Pairs) and Sunday, 26th September, 2010 (Teams)

Smedley/Griffin Success
Don Smedley & John Griffin were runaway winners of the Green Point Pairs on Saturday, 26th September.
There was a maximum turnout of 90 pairs, thanks to Amanda Grimsey's organisational skills.

Unfortunately, Don & John were unable to complete the double by winning the Teams on the Sunday, 27th September, but finished in a reasonable 11th playing with Jim Tomlinson and David Briggs.
Malcolm Young, Alan Kenny, Jeff Calladine, Richard Horsley were the best placed Derbyshire team in 8th place.

Derbyshire Success in GP Teams
Malcolm Young, Alan Kenny, Jeff Calladine & Richard Horsley were winners of the the Green Point Teams event at Spondon on Sunday, 19th July, 2009.
Another Derbyshire team, David Taylor & Liz Hall Clive Warbrick & Ray Jolland were 3rd.

March 2009 Green Point Events
Derbyshire pairs had indifferent results in the Saturday Pairs. As usual, Don Smedley & John Griffin were the best, finishing in 9th place.

Best placed Derbyshire team on the Sunday were 3rd placed Malcolm Young, Alan Kenny, Amanda Grimsey & John Sowter.

September Green Point Events
Amanda Grimsey did her usual excellent job organising the Lecicestershire/Derbyshire Joint Venture events on Saturday and Sunday, 27th & 28th September.
In the Saturday Swiss Pairs, Amanda and John Sowter did well to finish 5th out of 74 pairs. Other Derbyshire pairs who had good results were Giles Foster & Ron McEwan (4th), Don Smedley & John Griffin (7th) and Dave & Mary Marshall (8th).
In the Sunday Swiss Teams, Ron and Giles playing with Dave and Mary finished 2nd. They had been leading all the way until they lost the last match 9-11 and were overtaken by Jimmy Ledger's team who outshone them, winning all 7 of their matches.

July 2008 Green Point Weekend
Derbyshire pairs had indifferent results in the Saturday Pairs. Don Smedley & John Griffin were the best, finishing in 10th place.

However, on the Sunday, Don & John along with John Squibb & Paul Madden won the teams event.
Another Derbyshire team were 2nd, Annice & Howard Morton with Randy and Doreen Curzon.

September Green Point Swiss Teams
Don Smedley and John Griffin were once again pipped into second place on Sunday, in the Green Point swiss teams. Their team-mates were John Squibb and Hayden Dando.

September Green Point Pairs
Derbyshire's John Armstrong and Ron McEwan won the Green Point Swiss Pairs with 112 VPs. Don Smedley and John Griffin were 2nd with 105 VPs. Mo Logan and Malcolm Young were 4th. Amanda Grimsey was responsible for organising an excellently run event, persuading 80 pairs to turn up.

Derbyshire Green Point Pairs and Teams in September
The annual Green Point Pairs and Teams will be held at Spondon on 29th and 30th September, 2007.
