Vic Morris Round 2
In the cup, Elliott and Floutier had a tough battle with Elliott eventually prevailling with a scant margin of 100. Watson beat Briggs and Edwards were the winners of their match against Sowter. The match between Pacey and Wells / Young was postponed, but thankfully there is plenty of time to get this played before Round 3.
Kelly has withdrawn from the Plate so the draw was re-done last night as this now involved a trio. George beat Dobbie and the encounter between Young / Wells and Parker was postponed. In the trio, Reavy beat Suter and Blake but Blake also beat Suter, so Reavy and Blake go through to the next round. Trios in a pivot teams are a bit complex to organise as everyone changes partners after 5 boards and thank you to John Reavy for taking charge.

Vic Morris Round 1
Last night was the first round of the Vic Morris Cup and Plate. This is a challenging but enjoyable competition as it is a pivot teams of four event (i.e. you partner all your team members) aand is scored by total aggregate. After the qualifying round yesterday, the field splits in two, the winners playing in the Cup and the rest in the Plate which is handicapped. Sixteen teams have entered this year.
Results
David Briggs beat Dorothy Suter
Richard Edwards beat John Reavy
Jennifer Floutier beat Jim Parker
Amanda Sowter beat Cedric Cockcroft
Wendy Watson beat Derek George
Margaret Pacey beat Ian Blake
Brian Elliott beat Sandy Dobbie
There is one postponed match between Malcolm Young and Andy Wells. Round 2 is on May 9th.
